After going through Barry Janzen's presentation, I felt very heart-broken for what has happened to the black people in American history. The most heart-breaking part of this presentation was seeing black people being hung from beautiful, and prosperous trees out in the public. (just like in the song "Strange Fruit" by Billie Holiday) Seeing these images of black people being hung by trees, makes many people who was living during the Jim Crow Era want to regret what has happened, just like the people in the museum with racist objects toward black people, when people find the most non-racist thing in the museum and ask why it is racist. I thought that the idea that white people had that god makes black people slaves, and white people a great life was pretty dumb. God cannot even communicate with anyone on earth, if he even exists, but instead... this thought came from WHITE church people. I thought that having a theater, and a separate drinking fountain for black people was a great thing, until I heard Mr. Janzen say that it was because the Americans did not want to black people to communicate with the white people, and make a half-black, half-white infant. The second most disturbing thing about the Jim Crow Era was angry mobs, killing any innocent black people they could find. I do not understand why a mob would kill hard-working black people, who are already slaves that make their community more advanced. In conclusion, America has a lot of dark history in it's past, such as the Jim Crow Era.
